Channel 5 News

I just came across these very informative post's and I continue to have high praise for the Channel 5 News team reporters who typically take the time to report real news to it's
residents. In terms of Mark Goudeau and his criminal case, I don't believe that we have heard the last on that front.

First of all the DNA is NOT a match to Goudeau. 13 loci from a suspect need to match all 13 loci of the DNA evidence to be called a “match”. Mark only matched 3! An arrest is not even normally made with such a low loci match. That’s also why he didn’t come up in CODIS. KPHO continues to propitiate the myth that Goudeau is a match to the DNA. That is simply an untrue statement and it’s unconceivable that KPHO does no investigative work on the actual facts. Furthermore, the DNA swab WAS NOT lost, but because it was so degraded and dirty and a 3-person mixture, results were impossible to obtain and it was shelved. (3-person mixture is almost impossible to analyze as well because now it becomes DNA soup.) Now DPS claims they have results? Not to mention, the swab was entirely consumed by DPS, leaving nothing for the defense to test, only the word of the police, an organization under intense pressure to make an arrest in this nationally high profile case. Oh, and did I mention that the DPS expert that performed the tests fled the country shortly after Mark’s arrest and now resides in Canada?

The AZ Dept of Corrections collected his DNA in the first law change requiring the DOC to take samples from certain crime type offenders. Goudeau was required to give his blood at the Mohave Unit down in Douglas. Sooooo if they had his sample already, why wasn't that database used to check for a match!!???!!! What happened to the blood/dna samples taken by DOC and why no match before?

Y-STR is Y chromosome short tandem repeat or yDNA testing. Y DNA testing is an examination of the Y chromosome. The Y DNA is the inherited from father to son. Therefore, a male's brother, father, paternal uncle, paternal cousin, grandfather, great grandfather and just about everyone with the same surname have identical yDNA. While revealing a possible surname is helpful in investigation, it is not a method of identification.
